Darlington High School Band alumnae graduates from Hilbert College.
Nykeria Brockington is a native of Darlington, South Carolina. She attended Darlington High School (DHS) in 2014 and graduated from DHS in 2018. While attending Darlington High School, Nykeria was a member of the Darlington Marching Band for three years as a Trumpet Player. Nykeria has been under the leadership of current Director Mr. Brendan L. Johnson since his first year at Darlington High School. In fact, his first year as band director was only her first year playing the trumpet. Upon graduating from DHS, Nykeria became a student at Hilbert College in Hamburg, New York where she majored in Criminal Justice. Director of Bands Brendan Johnson says: "Nykeria had great work ethic. When I first arrived to Darlington High School, she had only been on trumpet for less than a year. Although her experience was limited, she demonstrated great perseverance and was able to perform on our marching band at a proficient level. I am extremely excited for what's next to come for Nykeria"
While in college, Nykeria mostly did community service with the local food bank by helping deliver food to elders in the local community. She was in student government and served as the diversity representative and a member of the criminal Justice and Forensic Science association.
Nykeria now plants to become a juvenile probation officer while working on her masters degree in hopes of becoming an FBI agent.
