Samiya Benjamin is a recent graduate of Darlington High School. Samiya has served as a dancer in the band for four years. She has been a loyal and devoted member who gave much of her time to Darlington High School's award-winning Dance line known as the Flawless Jewels. Samiya has also been a member of the Band's Battle Squad. She has competed in several competitions earning 1st place trophies and placements. She has traveled with the band to various states such as Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Considering Samiya's band experience, she is considered a well-rounded and versatile dancer.
Samiya received a Dance scholarship to attend Benedict College in Columbia, SC which makes her the first Dancer from Darlington High School to receive a Dance Scholarship. Samiya plans to major in Public Health and later plans to become a nurse.
Mr. Johnson stated, "Words cannot express how proud I am of Samiya! I had the honor of watching Samiya grow up. I remember when Samiya first joined our program, we immediately saw the potential she possessed and knew that her gifts would take her far. I'm glad to see this dream come true for her and can't wait to see her on the front line with Benedict College."
Samiya will depart soon to attend Band Camp with the Benedict College Band of Distinction this July. Join us in wishing her well and congratulating her on such an outstanding achievement.
