Darlington High School had 62 students to audition for the District Honor Band. Of these 62 students, 51 of them received placement.
On Monday, December 2, 2019, students from various districts, including Chesterfield, Dillon, Florence 1, Florence 2, Florence 3, Marion, and others gathered at Hartsville Middle School to audition for the District Honor Band. Students who receive placement in the District Honor Band will participate and perform in the District Honor Band Clinic Scheduled for February 1, 2020. Mr. Johnson, Director of Bands for Darlington High School, says "Words cannot express how proud I am of the progress of these kids. A year before this, we averaged around 20 people receiving placement for the District Honor Band, but this year we have over 50. This is a record for Darlington High School."
